LOCATION // THE PERSIAN PLACE
For Mothers Day today my sister, her fiancé and I decided to take mum out to lunch at an Iranian restaurant in Newcastle called "The Persian Place". Food was 10/10! Do recommend!
Mum is half Lebanese so the food is quite similar to that. Unlike western culture, the middle eastern people do not eat one big meal on a plate and go, they serve many dishes progressively and graze on the food along the way.
We were provided with an entree course of hummus and some some sort of beetroot dip with bread to dip in it, but i did miss the photo opportunity because i was too excited to eat it ahah! Oh well, here are the rest of the dishes we were served:
Small Mazzeh Dish #1: Persian Felafel with pickled red cabbage and smoked chilli-saffron sauce.YUM
They gave us a FREE mothers day pomegranate salad! Justin loved this salad, as you can tell in the image above he was hooking in!
Small Mazzeh Dish #2: Coo-Coo - fresh herbs and veggie patties with coriander and mint sauce. These tasted incredibly a lot like dolmades. (if you have ever tasted them.)
Large Mazzeh Dish #1: Qeymeh - Roasted zucchini, baby eggplant in split-pea and black lime sauce.
Served with saffron rice.
Large Mazzeh Dish #2: Kalam Polow - Black eyed peas and roasted mushroom pillaf with herb yoghurt. D. E. L. I. C. I. O. U. S.
They had some amazing Persian weaves everywhere, including this one that was on their front desk! Amazing. Mum loved the restaurant so much, so it was a grande day. Go and check it out sometime at 43 Bolton street Newcastle, NSW.
